Description
Combinase® FT Nasal Spray, manufactured by Zydus Cadila and marketed by German Remedies, comprises two active ingredients called Fluticasone Furoate, a synthetic trifluorinated corticosteroid, and Azelastine — a potent, second-generation, selective, histamine antagonist (histamine-H1-receptor antagonist).
Indications:
- relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients 6 years of age and older.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Fluticasone Furoate inhibits multiple cell types (e.g., mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (e.g., histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) involved in allergic and non-allergic-mediated inflammation. This contributes to the efficacy in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Azelastine competes with histamine for the H1-receptor sites on effector cells and acts as an antagonist by inhibiting the release of histamine and other mediators involved in the allergic response.
